JOB PURPOSETo develop, write, edit, and present for approval material for manuals, instruction books, checklists, forms, and catalogs.
Develops maintenance and operating procedures, support processes and related technical data to communicate approved work methods for installing, operating, and maintaining aircraft and associated equipment and programs.
WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Demands:
Requires sitting and standing for extended periods.
Requires frequent walking, bending, and reaching to shoulder level.
Requires occasional lifting or carrying weight up to 20 pounds.
Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated:
Telephone, computer, printer, copy machine, facsimile machine, and reader-printer machine.
Work Location:
Business Office and Aircraft Maintenance Hangar.
Potential Hazards:
Exposure to excessive noise levels, changes in temperature, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, working around moving machinery.
Protective Equipment Required:
Ear, Eye, and hand protection as needed.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Job Functions:
Develop and maintain the Repair Station Manual:
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and understand repair station procedures, policies, and practices.
Write, edit, and format content for the Repair Station Manual, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with FAA regulations (FAR 145).
Organize and structure information in a logical and user-friendly manner.
Incorporate applicable illustrations, diagrams, and photographs to enhance understanding of procedures and processes.
Revise and update existing content:
Review and update existing Repair Station Manual content to reflect regulations, procedures, or best practices changes.
Work closely with SMEs to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information.
Track and manage revisions, versions, and document control.
Ensure regulatory compliance:
Stay up to date with current FAA regulations and industry standards relevant to FAR 145 repair stations.
Ensure that the Repair Station Manual is compliant with applicable regulations and guidelines.
Collaborate with regulatory compliance personnel to address any discrepancies or issues.
Review other applicable federal, state, and local regulations, process standards, and other data relative to operation, maintenance and service of equipment.
Quality control and document management:
Conduct thorough reviews and self-audits to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and clarity of content.
Maintain document control procedures, including version control, archiving, and access restrictions.
Implement feedback from internal and external stakeholders to improve the Repair Station Manual.
Organize material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
Marginal Job Functions:
Compile and maintain records as required utilizing computer terminal to input or retrieve data.
Contact customers or manufacturers to obtain information or data regarding equipment undergoing maintenance.
SMS REQUIREMENTS Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance.
Will participate in safety activities including the following:
immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.
QualificationsEducation and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
Previous experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in an aviation or aerospace industry.
Knowledge and understanding of FAA regulations (FAR 145) and repair station procedures.
Writing and Communication Skills:
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with an emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in creating well-structured, user-friendly documents.
Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance:
Familiarity with FAA regulations and guidelines, particularly FAR 145.
Understanding of aviation maintenance and repair procedures.
Experience in ensuring compliance and accuracy in technical documentation.
Attention to Detail and Organization:
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in documentation.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using document authoring tools, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or other publishing software.
Knowledge of document management systems and version control practices.
Certificates/Licenses:
Valid driver's license required.
Other:
May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
